About

Angela K. Doak is an artist and illustrator based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her work is inspired by her love of animals and the natural world, as well as a passion for environmentally sustainable artistic practices.

Angela’s collages are made of recycled papers: calendars, greeting cards, gum wrappers, junk mail, and more. With over 20 years of animal collages in her repertoire, there’s something for everyone.

Angela’s illustration credits include: Atlantic Animal ABC (2017); My First Book of Canadian Birds (2018);  After It Rains: A Counting Book (2022); and The Old Oak Tree (2024).

Her book, Atlantic Animal ABC, was shortlisted for the Lillian Shepherd Memorial Award for Excellence in Illustration (2018), and My First Book of Canadian Birds was selected for the TD Summer Reading Club Top 75 Reads in Canada (2019).

When she is not searching through old magazines for the perfect colour for her next collage, Angela can often be found reading about folklore or walking her cat.
